There are many varieties of chicken gravy across the world. Guntur style chicken curry is a dish made by chicken pieces and cook them in oil along with variety of spices until they are soft and tasty. It is a popular main dish in many cultures and can be seasoned with various spices and herbs to add flavor. Sprinkle with coriander leaves, mint leaves and serve hot. Enjoy!
Ingredients
Half chicken
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 big onion (long slit cut)
3 green chillies (or to taste)
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 tsp red chili powder (or to taste)
4 tsp dry coconut pieces
2 tsp coriander seeds
2 tsp poppy seeds (Gasagasalu)
1 inch cinnamon stick
3 to 4 cloves
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
5 to 6 cashew nuts
1/2 tsp pepper powder
A pinch of garam masala
Coriander leaves (Optional)
1/2 cup Oil
Instructions
Cut the chicken into 2 inch cube sized pieces.
In a mixer, take dry coconut pieces, coriander seeds, poppy seeds, half cup onion, cinnamon, cloves, ginger garlic paste, cashew nuts and grind to a thick paste, using water sparingly. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a deep-wide pan, add remaining half cup onions along with green chillis, fry until the golden color.
Add chicken pieces and salt in the pan, cook till oil seperates. stir pieces not very often.
Add ground paste into the pan and stir fry on medium to low flame.
Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder after 5 mins.
Add two cups of water / chicken broth into the pan after rawsmell of masala disappears.
Cook till the gravy thickens.
Add pepper powder, a pinch of garam masala and coriander leaves 2 minutes before switch off the stove.
